Online Correspondence Lessons
Designed with YOU in mind, online correspondence lessons are a perfect way to take your playing to the next level. Lesson plans are presented in a customized format, specific to each student, and scheduling could not be easier! Just become a member, book a time slot, and you’re ready to go!
We pride ourselves on serving the needs of each individual student, and we have found that one of the best ways to do so is by having the student take an assessment lesson. This is a short 15-20 minute, inexpensive way to experience online face to face between instructor and student, where we discuss your specific needs, your current practice routine, and your long term goals. With this information, we move forward to constructing a teaching regiment.
Beginning students, or students under the age of 10 should plan on taking 30 minute lessons. However, if the student is highly motivated, 45 minute lessons are available. 45 minute and one hour lessons are suggested time lengths for adult and teenage students, as well as students that have been studying for more than 3 years.
All lessons with Delco Music Academy provide pdf copies of information (scales, exercises, chords, tabs, solos, examples) relevant to the student. Unless otherwise noted, the material included should be printed out or backed up somewhere that can be easily accessed. These materials are specific to you and should be thought of as lesson materials in the same vein as face to face lessons with an instructor. Don’t lose them!

Booking procedure is done through our website. Become a member (free), and book a lesson using our calendar app. The calendar will provide time slots where our instructors have open time. Pick a time most appropriate to you, and follow the app into billing. Major credit cards accepted.
We currently use Skype to take part in our lessons. Skype is a free service and we have found it to be reliable. If you have questions on Skype, or if your computer or smart phone can use it, download the app and setup an account. There are test procedures built into Skype that can identify problems (camera, internet, connection, etc) that you can fix before booking a lesson. It sounds pretty complicated but in reality it’s all pretty easy.
We commonly use our own teacher user names under Skype, and upon booking a lesson you will receive that information.
Online lessons require the student to have their instrument, and any relevant materials to be with them at the required time. A computer, smart phone, tablet, any device capable of running Skype is all that’s necessary. Prior to lesson time, the student should test the app, and their internet connection to make sure there are no issues. Just have your instrument and you’re ready to go! If the student is late at the required time, it is not the teachers responsibility to add time to lessons, and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are non-refundable. If the student is running late, usually just a call ahead is all it takes (we’re musicians! we’re late all the time, we get it!), but if no notice is given after 15 minutes of the scheduled time, the lesson is forfeited.
Face to Face Lessons: Please Contact Us
If you live in the Delaware County or surrounding area, and prefer face to face lessons, we offer that as well. Private face to face lessons are a tried and true way to get results fast! We currently offer private one on one lessons, as well as small group sessions. Both feature the teaching structure we use online, identifying goals, strengths and weaknesses, and organizing a specific practice routine for each individual.
Small group sessions similar, but can be more focused on the group in mind.
Face to face lessons work much like online correspondence lessons with regards to booking. Become a member, use our calendar app, confirm your time slot, and you’re ready to go. After confirmation, you will receive the studio address and any other relevant information. As with our online lessons, pdfs and materials provided are included in the lesson cost, unless otherwise noted. Don’t lose them!

Small group lessons are a great way meet like minded musicians, tackle issues together, and learn from one another. Group lessons will need a minimum signup of 3 on the given day in order to be confirmed. If a date does not reach the 3 student signup, you will receive a refund for that lesson. Face to face requires the student to have their instrument, and any relevant materials to be with them at the required time. If the student is bringing an electric guitar, we have small combo amps available for use.
Bringing your own is not necessary. If the student is late at the required time, it is not the teachers responsibility to add time to lessons, and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are non-refundable. If the student is running late, usually just a call ahead is all it takes (we’re musicians! we’re late all the time!), but if no notice is given after 15 minutes of the scheduled time, the lesson is forfeited.
Workshop Classes: Please Contact Us
Workshop classes are group setting lessons that are designed to tackle specific guitar playing obstacles. These classes are offered at the school level by specific date and time. Think of them like a day camp, or apprenticeship. As they are engineered to be specific, some are for beginners, and some are for experienced players.
Workshops will bring together many students from different skill levels and goals, and help them work together to solve their problems. Among the most popular workshops are our Songwriting workshops, improvisation, lyric writing, theory, and solos and phrasing workshops. These usually last 2 hours, and provide a lot of value for the student. They’re a lot of fun, and you will leave feeling energized to play!
Workshops and booking will be specific to what we offer (become a member!). Information and materials provided are included with the cost of lessons unless otherwise stated. Becoming a member and interacting with our community will help us decide when/where/what will have the most value to our students when organizing a workshop.
Lesson materials will be provided. If the student is bringing an electric guitar, combo amps are available. Acoustic guitar is also just fine. Booking will be provided in our calendar app. Address, date and time will be specific to each workshop. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be non-refundable. In the event that you will be late, usually a call ahead of time is all it takes. If however, the student has not arrived at the given time after 15 minutes, the student will be charged for the lesson.
